Copyright And Trademark

Both copyright and trademark are elements of an intellectual property. Anything that is written can be copyrighted. However, it must be stated that you have the right copyright to the material. Other pieces of intellectual property that can be copyrighted are: songs, photographs and artworks, among other things. Unlike patents, copyrights are not monitored or recorded. Trademarks are used to protect intellectual property and can include brand names and logos. Unlike copyright, you do not need to apply for trademarks. For a trademark to hold up, you must follow three requirements: No one else can be using it, it cannot be a common or descriptive phrase and you must use it. You can use it simply by placing this symbol, ル, after your intellectual property. Trademarks do not expire unless you stop using them. While both of these elements of intellectual property are helpful, they can be abused. Make sure to recruit legal counsel if you suspect that illegal activity is taking place.

Fast Facts
