Intellectual Property Licensing

Intellectual property licensing is an interesting way of taking advantage of your intellectual property. A licensing agreement is essentially a partnership between an intellectual property rights owner and another person with the authorization to use these rights in exchange for monetary compensation. The compensation may be a fee or a royalty. That can be decided by the two parties involved in the transaction. There are a multitude of licensing agreements are available. These licensing agreements can be placed in the following categories: technology license agreement, trademark licensing and franchising agreement, and a copyright license agreement. You will find that all or some of these agreements frequently make up part of a single contract. This happens because several rights are a part of the process, as opposed to a singular type of intellectual property right. Licensing agreements also play a big role in mergers and acquisitions. A licensing agreement may also prove necessary when pursuing a joint venture.
