The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was established in 1967. It is one of 16 specialized agencies within the United Nations. Its mission is to encourage creative activity and protect and promote intellectual property around the world. This search engine can help you look through over a million different patents. WIPO is currently going through a strategic realignment transition. Some of the steps that have been laid out to accomplish this multifaceted initiative include: facing global issues that affect intellectual property head on, making information and analysis of intellectual property available with a world reference source, and maintaining an exceptional feedback system between WIPO and its member states and stakeholders.
