The Good Governance Program strengthens protection of intellectual property rights by establishing a dialogue

The Good Governance Program strengthens protection of intellectual property rights by establishing a dialogue between the private sector and the government in developing markets around the world. This dialogue takes place through a series of structured seminars, roundtables, and training workshops.

In Romania, the Good Governance Program organized a seminar on the status of intellectual property rights protection in that country in 2002. The seminar brought together U.S. and Romanian government specialists and U.S. and Romanian private sector representatives to discuss progress and shortcomings with Romania's intellectual property rights regime.

The Good Governance Program is also seeking opportunities to work in public-private sector partnerships to develop sets of industry-specific declarations that enterprises may voluntarily adopt, in which they pledge not to use pirated, counterfeit or otherwise unauthorized products.
